Well, not a bad night overall. I am not as happy as I was last week since I did not bowl another 600 series. I didn't make adjustments soon enough last night and that cost me my first game. I shot a 179 in the first, made the adjustments in the second and shot a 205 and then held on in the third for a 199. The silver lining in the cloud is that we won 10 out of 12 points and should be in first place for this half. We were in second last night but I am not sure what the first place team did so I can't say for sure we are in first. Like I said not a bad night but I want to do better.
Alright last night finally went like it is supposed to. There were only a few mishaps and I am actually going to blame something else for them. I started the night unable to carry anything. I left ten pins and nine pins I was hitting the pocket hard but they just wouldn't fall down. I was able to pick up my spares and ended up finishing the game with a 211. Second game the carry was there and ended up with five in a row in the ninth frame. I threw a good ball in the tenth but left a single pin I picked it up and a finished with a 233. The third game is when the mishaps started. We get to the second frame and the ball return takes a huge chunk out of one of the other team's ball. So, they shut everything down to check out the problem which took over a half an hour. Needless to say I started to stove up and by the time we got back to the game I was throwing ball too slow. I was able to pick it back up later in the game and finished with a 200 but I think the last could have been better if there were not a delay. Anyway, I am extremely happy with this series it is the first 600 series in at least two months.
Last night was not anything to write home about but it was finally a night I will write about. I have been struggling almost every week on league night and I really did not know why. I would practice during the week and bowl well and then league would come and the wheels would come off. Anyway last night I finally was able to put three decent games together 181, 181, 199. I would not be proud of these scores if it were not for the scores of the last month or more. Last night was the first night in a long time I actually bowled my average. The other good thing was that because I was able to bowl well that last game we ended up taking 8 out of 12 points on the night putting us into at least third place. So, I have some confidence going into next week and I am looking forward to bringing my average back to were it used to be.
I just don't get it. I bowl practice game after practice game and have no problems at all. I shoot in the 200's almost every game. I pick my spares up and I throw a consistant strike ball. Then league night comes and I fall apart. I have not bowled my average in at least a month. Last night was no exception I thought it was going to be after the first game but then the wheels came off. I start the night finishing my last game with six in a row and shoot 231. I thought well this is going to be a good night. Then the second game starts and I can't pick up a spare and shot 153. I thought that was a bad as it could get and again was I wrong. The last game I could not hit the pocket and could not pick my spares up so I finished that little gem off with a 130. Only 101 pins less than my first game. Oh well, I am taking a break next week for Easter so maybe the rest will do me some good.
